Visiting from the east coast and thought we'd give this place a try based on the reviews. It was just great. Food cooked just right. Fast, friendly service by one guy! Best omelette I've had in a while. The red potatoes on the side with green peppers and onions were cooked perfectly with none of the common blackening at diners. Kudos to the chefs. Great OJ too.. Coffee is typical below average grade, but I'm ok with that. Loved this place..
Just be aware:
It's not upscale.
You order at the register and sit down, food is brought out to you.
I found it well worth it for the delicious food and friendly atmosphere. -

We stopped in this little place with a hungry crowd of 8 people after a 3- hour drive from the Sierras to watch Hamilton. We only had about 30 minutes to get in and out of there and these wonderful men of THE LOCAL PLACE got us a table in a crowded restaurant, served uggs or brunch incredibly fast amid were SUPER friendly and inviting!!!! After, we had a 1 minute walk to the Orpheus Theater!!!
I would HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend THE LOCAL PLACE as a place to stop by quick if you've got to grab a bite before doing something in the Civic Center area. Mostly breakfast-and lunch type items, I don't think they are open for dinner. The nicest guys in a restaurant I've come across in a long time!!! -

Yummmmm. I got the popeye omelet, which consist of bacon, spinach and cheese. I added peppers and onion to mine. It was good. The eggs were fluffy and cooked perfectly. It seemed like there were other pieces of meat inside the omelet other than bacon, taste like a sausage of some sort. It was good so it didn't matter. The server/ cashier was so cheery and warming. He pretty much did everything in the restaurant aside from cook. He was awesome! Will definitely return

This place is near the SHN and Sam's diner and the only reason why I can see it being less busy than Sam's is cause it isn't all brand new. The food is phenomenal, speedy, and cooked perfectly. It's casual dining, and even though it's a bit older looking, everything is impeccably clean and tidy. The gentleman who rung us up at the register was very helpful, kind, and cleanliness is an important factor to him (something not always a reality for most restaurants). Very impressed and glad we stopped in before seeing a show at SHN. We will plan to eat here for breakfast the next time we visit SF
